Viewing History and Revisions

Last Updated

Elementor keeps a history of all of the saved changes you make to a page or post allowing you to revert to a previous change in case you make a mistake.

In Elementor there are two types of types of options to view your history:

Actions keep a record of any recent edits you make while you are working on a page or post.

Revisions keep a timeline history of every saved version of the page or post, from its first creation to the present.

This allows you to restore an edit from any saved point in time.

View the History Tab

You can view your actions and revisions, by clicking on the history icon in the Elementor toolbar.

This will then show you your recent actions, as shown below:

Recent Actions

If you’ve just started the editing session, your panel will be blank with a ‘No History Yet’ message.

As soon you make an edit, this will update to the action you made and an option to revert the change, as shown below:

Your first action will be ‘Editing Started’ followed by any changes you have made. To undo a change, click on the stage you would like to revert back too. This will automatically update the editing screen on the right.

Revisions

You can view all of your page or post revisions, by clicking on the revisions link in the history tab. This will show you every edit since the page or post was created, as shown below:

Each of your previous saved edits, from before your current session, are listed.

The listed edits are shown with the most recent at the top, sorted by date.

They also show the author of the last edit (if you have multiple users in your website) to help keep track of any changes that may have been made by other authors.

To revert to an older revision, click on the revision you wish to restore and then the green Apply button.

This will update the content of the page or post to the content that was saved on that date.

If you then click the update button, this instance will become the latest version of the page or post.
