Local SEO Round-Up November 2016

Local SEO, getting your local business, local office or branch to rank locally in either the three-pack map using your GMB listing or in the local organic search results, is a real passion of the SEO team at Dentons Digital. We have over 10 years of experience in the local SEO space and constantly monitor and research the latest trends in local SEO.  From our reading and research on local SEO this month we have curated our favourite local SEO stories, reviews and products. Enjoy reading and watching them:

BrightLocal – Local Citation Services Compared

Bright local is a great resource for local SEO with some great free tools and a regularly updated blog. They really have their finger on the pulse of local SEO. This great post compares paid for local citation services.  The post outlines what a web citations and name address and phone (NAP) data is, why they are important and provides overviews of a number of services that will submit and monitor your online citations and NAP.  The article reviews Yext, Moz Local, Brightlocal, Whitespark, Advice Local and Synup looking at a variety of factors including cost and time taken.  It is a great read if you are looking to compare the citation market.

Whitespark – Goggle Review Link Generator Tool

This is a cool review and walkthrough of the new Google tool that allows you to make the Rate and Review process in Google much easier. The post outline how the process works, some examples of it in action and tips on how to get the best out of the tool. A must read for small business owners looking to get more Google reviews.

Search Engine Land – Consumers Will Leave Reviews if Asked

This article dovetails well with the Whitespark article and the research comes from a BrightLocal survey. I have picked this article as it is a nice summary of the research and contain links to the full article if you want to read it.  It covers off a wide range of issues but it is interesting to read that around 70% of users will leave a review for a business if they are asked to do so. How often are you asking for reviews?

Brandify – Google Map Maker Closing Down

Brandify is a local marketing platform and the site has a great knowledge centre and hosts a well written and regularly updated blog that is focussed on local issues. This article outlines how, why and when Google is closing down its Map Maker tool in March 2017. Google are replacing Map Maker with a new tool – local guides.  Worth getting a Local guides account as soon as you can. This post it a great entry point into the new tool.
