Excerpts are typically short paragraphs, useful for introductions, commonly shown on news or blog areas, as shown below:
By default, WordPress automatically generates an excerpt from the content within your post.
You can customise the excerpt by clicking on the post you wish to edit and in the right-side options panel, click the drop-down arrow next to Excerpt as shown below:
You can now add your text excerpt to this box and save the post.
We recommend keeping the excerpt short and related to the post content.
